That’s why we farm side by side with nature – not against it. After all, sustainable winemaking is a team effort. Made with an environmentally mindful approach, each Vineyard Friends wine is inspired by the unique creatures of the Cape and the special role they play in our winemaking story.
GREY DUIKER
SAUVIGNON BLANC 2024
Shy by nature, the Grey Duiker mixes compost and fynbos and soil with each light-footed step, munching on insects as it goes. This wine honours the small African antelope – a zesty character that is equally refreshing in spirit.
Intelligent and playful, the Cape Grey Mongoose is charming to watch, feeding on insects and burrowing in the vineyards. A friend of the vineyards, this wine honours the small, bushy-tailed Mongoose - both big on attitude and surprisingly dynamic.
Shhh...do you hear that? It's the distant hoot of the Cape Eagle Owl. Swooping in and out of the vineyards, it offers excellent pest control while hunting for midnight snacks. As fellow friends of the vineyards, this wine honours the Cape Eagle Owl - both delicate and calculated in their approach.
Extremely elusive and solitary, the Rooikat is occasionally spotted hunting for prey in the vineyards - a true sign of a healthy natural ecosystem. As a friend of the vineyard, this wine reflects the wild cat’s bold character and refined structure.
A long-legged, water-wading bird, the Grey Heron is an elegant hunter, offering a natural alternative to pest control. A friend of the vineyard, this wine honours the Grey Heron as a perfect blend of elegance and firm structure.
With keen foraging skills, the Bat-Eared Fox is our ally, removing harmful pests with a nuanced and natural approach. A friend of the vineyard, this wine is inspired by the Bat-Eared fox’s wide-eyed curiosity and discerning taste.
